On September 13, 2025, I was invited by Professor Diego Puga to deliver lectures on spatial analysis as part of the Urban Economics course at CEMFI in Madrid.
CEMFI, the Centro de Estudios Monetarios y Financieros, is a graduate school and research centre specialising in economics and finance. My module introduced spatial analysis tools for applied economics, with a focus on how spatial data, geographic relationships and computational methods can support urban and regional economic analysis.
The lectures built on material from my open course Geographic Data Science for Applied Economists, which introduces spatial data, geovisualisation, spatial feature engineering, OpenStreetMap and transport costs using Python.
