We brought DEBIAS to Mobile Tartu, which brings together researchers working on human mobility, mobile big data and mobility data justice for resilient, just and sustainable societies.
On June 7 and 8, Francisco Rowe and I led the PhD School workshop Correcting Biases in Mobile-Phone Mobility Data: The DEBIAS Framework, part of the 10th Mobile Tartu Conference hosted by the Mobility Lab at the University of Tartu.
The workshop introduced the DEBIAS project and a beta version of debiasR, our R package under development for identifying, assessing and correcting coverage and representativeness biases in digital trace mobility data. Participants worked through the conceptual foundations of the DEBIAS framework before applying debiasR in practical data analysis and group exercises.
On June 9, Francisco also presented DEBIAS progress in a World Bank Group session supported through the Global Data Facility programme and chaired by Siim Esko from Positium.
